Happy New Year!

Happy new year to everyone! Friends, family, loyal readers, colleagues and competitors!

As it is the first day of a brand new year, I’d like to bring up some food for thought: Why are we socially phobic of telling people when we are involved in multiple project and multiple income sources? Everyone knows the importance of diversification in a stock portfolio, but why not in our careers?

Income can come from many places; for John Chow 2007 has meant an explosion in revenue from his blog. Income can also come from rental properties, a day-job and freelance writing, to name a few. To some degree, many people I know are exposed to one or more of these at any point in time.

In today’s day and age, it is not strange (or at least shouldn’t be) to be involved in multiple projects and being dependent on multiple income sources. It just makes sense; when one falls away, at least you still making some money every month.

Make Money Online Blogging

Although anyone can make money online from blogging, making money with a blog is probably an ideal steady ’side job’ for any freelance writer! After all; there is always rain after sunshine, and feast is often followed by famish. In times of a financial dry-spell, freelancers can ramp up their blog postings, and thus keep up with their balance books.

Even though making money from a blog is great for freelancers, it really is great for anyone with a spare five to ten minutes a day who wouldn’t mind putting some cash in their pockets. So, here are my tested and recommended money makers:

Smorty is a paid-to-blog service that allows you (the blogger) to choose about which topics to write, and then get paid to include a link in your posts back to the advertiser’s website. The low end of the payout is $6 per link, going all the way up to $100 per link (!!!!) depending on the characteristics of your blog.
